I purchased a house in 2008 with Flagstar as my leaner and all I have is Problems. Their custom service is the worst. I'm currently behind on my morgage due to lay off at work my income dropped and when I call and ask for help, they try to pawn me off on other companies to help. They don't listen to anything that you have to tell them, they simply don't care. I just recently got my taxes done, and according to my accountant, my tax bill doesn't match up to what I've been paying Flagstar. Flagstar is charging me almost a thousand extra dollars a year.I called to ask them what the deal is that my town records show I'm suppose to be paying them almost a thousand dollars a year less, their answer, "theirs a different between town and city taxes. I know this but I looked up my specific tax bill! They didn't even care to look into it. Why am I giving you this extra money, and Its always call someone else. They never take it in their own hands to fix problems that they had caused. This is only the most recent problem with them. Horrible company!!! I wish I would have seen all these reports before going through them. I don't see how they will even be in business much longer. STAY AWAY

We had a homeowners insurance claim. The money had to be processed through Flagstar, our mortgage lender. They sat on the money for better than 2 months, not answering phone calls or emails.

The only thing the worked was filing a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. In eight days, they had sent us the check.

Try it.

Ps. They blamed it on a new employe, but they sure seemed to get it together once the complaint was filed.

Flagstar has the worst customer service I have ever seen. When I called about a problem, the representative specifically and clearly said that he doesn't care at all about good customer service. Flagstar will never see any of my business again.
Flagstar Bank ROBBED us!

We recently purchased a newly built home. During the first few months, Flagstar said they had trouble connecting with our tax office to make the tax payment because the parcel # had not yet been separated from the original piece of land. I received a tax bill and called them on several occasions to ensure it was paid on time. They dragged their feet on it...and it wasn't until I told them the town would be filing a lien, that they finally sent payment. THEN, the tax office assessed a $13 charge, which Flagstar happily paid out of OUR escrow account. When I called them to request a refund, the woman told me that "when it's our fault, we pay for it." Well it has been 3 months and I've called several times, and they still won't even confirm receipt of the documents they requested I send, to document my side of the story. You can't even speak to anyone in their tax office - they will only send a ticket! So they take your money, yet deny you the ability to speak with anyone about it! Now, that's some horrible customer service! The first call I received was on 8/13/2010 and today is 10/5/2010, and as of today, I still have no confirmation the documents I sent were received, or received a credit. I sent an email with a receipt request and haven't received the email receipt. I also have phone records to document my calls. This was not our irresponsibility and they are clearly dragging their feet so we'll let it go and they won't have to pay. If they can't even credit us for $13 that wasn't our fault, I shutter to think what their real fiscal health is. We will be filing complaints with other entities until we receive the money that is owed to us. Loan # xxxx62251

I cant show my name as I am in the middle of a new home purchase with FlagStar. My personal experience has been horrible. I might even say it's been abusive. I am a w2 employee, no special income stuff, tax returns filed and no name changes. I have treated like a criminal by this bank. I have been concerend that they dont have the means to fund my loan and my Seller, who is an elderly lady, has suffered delay after delay as I am at the mercy of FlagStar. I dont want to blast FS to badly here as I know I risk people thinking that I am part of the problem, but please beware if you choose to deal with this bank. They have caused real issues for me and my family in my transaction. BEWARE BEWARE. Good luck in your real estate endeavors.

Flagstar is solid. They have great turn around times, and competitive pricing. They don't seem to be too affected by the mortgage industry meltdown. I'd work with them again
Thanks Flagstar! (Satire)

I have been trying to get Flagstar to help with my ajustable rate mortgage that will reset early 2009. I was told they could not freeze the rate because I was not in a subprime loan. So I asked if I could do a streamline refinance, I qualified except you can not do a streamline refinance in a declining market. Where in the U.S. is the housing market not declining? Thanks for you help Flagstar, I'm sure when I have to walk away from my home it will sell for much less than the balance of my loan. If they would refi or freeze the loan, they could get much more of the balance. Soon Michigan will be nothing but empty homes owned by banks that can not sell them. And who will have any money to put into the bank. Thanks again Flagstar.
