CORAL GABLES, Fla.--(Business Wire)--
BankUnited Financial Corp. (NASDAQ:BKUNA), parent company of
BankUnited FSB, today launched a comprehensive Mortgage Assistance
Program (MAP) to provide relief to thousands of borrowers whose
option-ARM loans are no longer optimal for their current situations.

"This is one of the most sweeping, broad-based programs of its
kind," said Ramiro Ortiz, BankUnited's president and chief operating
officer. "This program will literally provide people with a map (MAP)
to find their way back into a more financially stable environment for
their home mortgages."

The Mortgage Assistance Program includes a variety of elements
that are intended to help borrowers. BankUnited intends to refinance
thousands of its option-ARM customers, with the largest percentage
located in Florida, in the next six months.

Benefits to borrowers include waived pre-payment penalties,
minimal modification fees and a variety of loan choices, including
traditional mortgage products and government agency loans. Customers
can refinance with other lenders and still take advantage of the
prepayment waiver. By taking action now, homeowners can lock in during
a low interest rate environment. In addition, they can avoid potential
higher payments when loans recast in the future.

Ortiz continued, "We are reaching out to thousands of our
borrowers and will use multiple outreach channels as we ramp up the
program. As we expand the program to a broader audience, we expect it
will be well-received by customers.

"Borrowers are impacted by the dual forces of declining housing
values and a struggling economy with rising prices for necessities
such as food and oil. Providing assistance now is a win-win situation.
We remain committed to helping borrowers stay in their homes."

HELLO,

I HAVE JUST READ AN ARTICLE THAT IS VERY DISTURBING AND WOULD LIKE CLARIFIED. I WOULD ASSUME THAT BANKUNITED FINANCIAL CORP IS PART OF BANK UNITED. THE ARTICLE STATES THAT THE FIRST THREE QUARTERS OF 2008 HAS A $200 MILLION IN LOSSES! IN ADDITION, IT STATES THAT THE BANK HAD 58% OF ITS ASSETS ARE IN OPTION ARMs. IS THIS CORRECT, AND WHAT IS THE CURRENT SURVIVAL OF BANK UNITED. PLEASE REPLY WITH ACCURATE INFORMATION. THANK YOU.

I currently have a mortgage loan with this bank. Part of my mortgage payment to Bank United goes into an escrow account. The escrow account pays my property taxes and homeowners. During the year 2000, Bank United over collected $1900 for escrow. This is due to a tax break my local county government gave me. Apparently Bank United does not see it that way. They simply will not give the money back. I have made repeated phone calls to Bank United over a three month period. I have found customer service reps, at times, to be cavalier and arrogant. Bank United completed my last Annual Account Analysis one month late. Even after the analysis showed a $1900 surplus, Bank United still will not return the money. I've been waiting three weeks for the check today, since the analysis. If you call customer service, your conversation will be recorded. Bank United will not turn the recording off if you ask. It may come as a surprise. I have filed a complaint with The Attorney General, State of Texas. I also filed a complaint with The Office of Thrift Supervision, Texas. Bank United seems unmoved by this. I strongly recommend NOT to get involved with this bank. you can not imagine how much aggravation Bank United will put you through when they make a mistake. Basically, Bank United has stole $1900 of my money. If you are one who has had a similar experience with this bank. I strongly urge you to write to The Attorney General and report it. Otherwise, it will continue to be business as usual at Bank United.
