AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL.

The most stupidest company I have ever dealt with.

I would give a better, more intelligent, critique but what is the point? From the moment I first dealt with them they were bad.

I am considering another re-fi just to be with another company. (730 credit score).

STAY AWAY.
Citi wants to collect the app fee

I was/am an existing customer. Citi sent me a special invitation letter to do a low-cost refinance. It looked like a good deal, so I agreed to pay the $400 app fee for a (small) cash out re-finance. Despite excellent credit, plenty of documentation to verify income history and lots of phone calls, they gave me some ridiculous excuse about "couldn't verify income" and tried to steer me to a higher-rate, longer-term loan. I declined the offer, and chalked up the $400 app fee to "lessons learned." This company is partially owned by the gov't and therefore is unable to make intelligent decisions; they can only follow the government prescribed formulas for loan seekers. My advice would be to go with another firm.

I started a mortgage with Citi mortgage in Miami. The rep took like a week to return my first call. Then he made me feel like he was doing ME a favor to speak with me with his busy schedule. The first thing he asked me was $150 to start the process for me to receive a pre-aproval letter, which I gave him along with all other docs he needed.
The check for $ 150 was cashed, I got my letter and never again i have been able to get in contact with the lending officer. That's not cool

I started a short sale with this company.
I understand short sales take time however I called the represensative who said that she recieved my clients package who then stated that she will schedule the bpo. Sometime later, they did not even schedule the bpo. I contacted the company many times. Their service is highly untrained. They dont even know what they are doing. Their departments are not organized for they do not even know the status of their own foreclosure. They appeared to have stalled just after foreclosure.

Thanks to this company
I lost my 5 months of work for nothing.
My client house went into foreclosure.

A banker talked us into applying for refinancing, encouraging us that home values had improved in our area. Turns out, this was not true. We were denied, and they pocketed the application fee. Same old, same old. Predators feeding on working people. Stay away!

I was deeded my home after my husband died. Without his income I had to apply for the loan modification. I was quite clear that MY HUSBAND DIED SO I HAVE NO MONEY but after the 3rd month of trial payments and faxing , phone calls, etc. they realized my husband died and I was only on the deed, not the loan. So I had to file an assumption which set us back. The whole time I'm hearing about ruined credit for people who pay the partial payment (in accordance with the agreement) but is reported as partial and delinquent to the credit bureau. I still don't know the impact this has had on my credit yet. I don't want to look.
1.Obviously, not getting them the proper paperwork (and on time) can set you back or lose the deal. They do not tolerate tardiness (although they take forever).
2.Never bother to leave a message, no one is actually there, it is meant to placate you.
3.Put your account/loan number at the top of every faxed page.
4.Be nice, they will respond.Ask them to look for recent correspondence (they do have some access)and then they can advise you. They actually email the underwriting department while you are on the phone and can get an answer. Underwriting does not want to deal with customers directly.
5.Do not do any other business that relates to a change of income while you are going through the modification. They can drop you.
That's what I've learned, hope it helps someone.
5.Keep copies of everything.

3 years ago I lost my job and found a new one within 6 months. Made my payments on time anyways.
Now I work for a lot less money so I had to file. Well it's been 3 yrs and I called last month to ask if I could redo my mortgage to make it easier on me. They said NO because I'm current. What the hell. Well I didnt reafirm the mortgage so maybe I should just walk away and give them the house.

Glad you folks got all the help to stay above by walking over the rest of us. What a bunch of Jack Asses.....

I actually work for Citimortgage in Texas and, let me tell you, it's a nightmare for us too.

Nearly everything--and I mean EVERYTHING--it set up on call centers--I think even the underwriters. Everyone has expected "handle times" that are directly tied both to performance ratings and monthly bonuses. That's right--my bonus depends in part on getting you off the phone.

In the beginning, those of us at the bottom--with no mortgage experience and nearly no training--were little more than glorified receptists. Over time, operations have improved, due to pressure from Congress on the outside and angry employees on the inside.

But it's a still fundamentally-flawed, stupidly-designed system, designed basically to compensate for the lack of staff by pushing them as hard as possible.

It's also obssessively focused on payments. That doesn't mean you won't reach people who want to help you, but keep in mind they are going against the grain.

Not that Citi isn't doing modifications or short sales--it is. But you're just a $$ to the upper management, and the process is so spread out and disjointed it's a wonder anything.

This is not helped by a mindless autodialer system wherein employees are forced to waste considerable amounts of their time calling people without any prior knowledge of their situation, or anyone had previously spoken with them. THe system quite literally does not allow the employee to see any account details until they are speaking with the borrower (no doubt some fool thought that was a security measure).

In short, the most incompentently-managed place I have ever worked.
