Failed to pay insurance from escrow

After several notices and phone calls from my homeowners insurance, Everhome failed to pay homeowners insurance on time, resulting in a new policy at a much higher price and less coverage. Numerous phone calls and hours on the phone resulted in no help. Agents repeatedly transfer you to another dept to get away from you, sometimes returning where you started. Nobody will help you here, typical answer is :It's not my dept". I have been trying to switch to a non-escrow account, I can pay my own bills on time, but they have refused. The ultimate absurdity was the letter stating they will buy my insurance at a very high rate because I don't have insurance. I didn't have insurance because they took my money and won't pay the insurance company. I'm looking to refinance to get away from them. You're on your own with Everhome and at the mercy of their incompetence, costing you money and time.

Began the refi journey in January 2011 - THEY CAME TO ME! I have my current, initial mortgage with them which was sold by Flagstar. Sent an appraiser who smelled of smoke, barely mastered the English language, spent 10 minutes on site and valued my home at 15K less than another appraiser from Wells Fargo who visited the week before. They refused to reverse their appraisers "opinion". I asked for the credentials of the appraiser to no avail. Consequently my home was undervalued. Everhome attorney could not figure out my title trust structure which is very simple and a common practice so that took time too. My loan officer said he'd reduce the processing fees and we'd finally close today (4/29/2011). As before, multiple calls went unanswered or were returned by someone other than my loan officer. One hour before the scheduled closing, I was told I must have a certfified check for 5K ready. I have excellent credit scores, etc. No review of HUD - just come up with cash. I told them to forget it and am now working with a professional broker.

I had Everhome Mortgage Company servicing my mortgage. 2 years ago my wife was laid off and we were doing okay with the mortgage until recently. When I called to find out what type of assistance they could offer me after paying on the mortgage for 27 years, they offered that I skip one month and make it up by paying an additional $326.00 per month for 4 months. Well, if I couldn't make the normal monthly payment how was I supposed to come up with an additional 326.00 per month? That was all they could offer me, take it or leave it is what I was told. Thank goodness I was able to borrow the money and pay my mortgage off. No more Everhome Mortgage on my back

Fax numbers listed on web didn't work

I needed to contact them regarding some problem I'll explain later. I could not find an email address on their web site. I then decided to fax them my complain. I used the fax number listed on their web site, and none of the 7 numbers worked. The numbers were voice line, busy, or disconnected. How can fax be busy at 4 am PST on a Saturday?

The actual complain I have with them was that they charged flood insurance to my account because I have failed to provide prove of insurance. In fact, I have faxed and mailed the prove of insurance to the number and address on the letter I received regarding this matter. After that I was still getting letter asking for the prove, so I finally called. The person I talked to on the phone told me they have moved. How could this national mortgage company did not forward their mail is beyond me.

I faxed the flood insurance document to the "correct" fax number, and the letter stopped. A few months has passed. I received new payment coupon to be used to send my regular payment. Some where in this coupon, it listed the insurance they have charged.
Check your original loan!

When you receive their notice that your loan is up for renewal, check to see IF it really is up for renewal! Read your original loan documents....I knew mine was fixed for 5 years and that time was ending soon. I contacted EverHome after their second notice to me saying my loan was due for renewal. I AM the one surprised and more accurately annoyed, that they did NOT once mention that my loan was NOT up for renewal. As it turns out, it was merely resetting at a LOWER rate. As a matter of fact they told me that I had until February of 2011 to get this loan process completed. I paid for a new appraisal and a $350 processing fee, which was not at all necessary. Not once did Mr. Bush mention that this loan would not terminate and that it would reset at a lower rate (an ARM).

Actions like this add to the realization that this lender is dishonest, unethical and bordering on illegal. By way of comparison, when I contacted the original lender (a small company in town), it was he who told me that I didn't need to refi and in his opinion I should wait until the rates start going up before I refied.

I believe this is highly unethical on EverHome's part! It's pretty obvious from their responses that they were attempting to push this process to a point of no return before I realized that my loan in fact did not need to be refied. They should have disclosed this to me to begin with and not assume that I wanted a fixed rate (and at a much higher interest rate!) In this economy, I would certainly stay with a lower interest rate, even if it is an ARM, if I knew that was an option. Their e-mails may seem impersonal to them, but they are affecting real live people by their actions and their poor advice and costing people hard earned money. I hope this isn't their policy to deceive people that are uninformed about when their loan term is due or isn't due! They should be honest and disclose to people all their loan options and not be unethical about making a buck for their corporation!

Loan Officer performed unethical selling practice that was dishonest and shameful.
Everhome Mortgage has practice MORTGAGE FRAUD.
I was a first time home buyer with a good income and credit score. When I signed up the mortgage payment with Loan Officer, DEJAN, I specifically told him that I do NOT want escrow account in my mortgage over the phone and he AGREED with it. Later on after I closing my house, I did not realize that the 500 pages closing documents that I have signed does include the escrow account. In my first year, I paid regularly my monthly mortgage for $1,100.
In the second year, my mortgage increased to $2,000s due to the escrow account. I requested the company to waive the escrow account, so that I can afford the monthly payment of $1,100. I called the customer service around 8 times, and every time I called them, they act like they're trying to solve my problem and giving me the false hope. Sure enough after 7 months of battling the escrow account, the company would never waive it, but they did reduce it to $1,650. I am really sick with this company and their unethical business practice, and they keep charging extra fee for their own mistake.
I WILL NOT RECOMMEND anyone to finance their home with EVERHOME MORTGAGE. THIS COMPANY HAS SO MUCH COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR PRACTICE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. PLEASE GOOGLE "EVERHOME MORTGAGE REVIEW" BEFORE YOU SIGNED UP WITH THEM.
I have tried to contact the Loan Officer, Dejan about 5-6 times, and has left 3 messages, but he doesn?t have a ball to call me back and denies his unethical business practice.

Dear Customer Service:
I recently received a letter from EverHome Mortgage Company stating that my home mortgage monthly payment will increase from $1,147.78 to $2,020.46 on April 01, 2010, due to your miscalculation of my property taxes and home insurance escrow withholding.
When I signed up for the loan, I was a first-time home buyer that relied on the mortgage information provided by my loan officer, Dejan. Since I have a good job and credit score, I stated very clearly in my phone conversation to Dejan that I did not want escrow payments incorporated into my mortgage payment. However, without my knowledge, the loan agreement that I signed included an escrow account for property taxes and home insurance.
I do understand that you have paid my 2009/2010 property taxes for the amount of $5,357.24, and I have paid into escrow a total of $1,987.31. The difference that I owe you in property taxes is $3,369.93. I am going to send you 2 checks via mail for the amount of $3,369.93 (for the property tax shortage) and $994.91 for April mortgage payment (principal
