M&T Bank

My wife and I are in the process of obtaining a SONYMA mortgage through MT Banks. I understand that this particular mortgage takes longer then a conventional one to process. However the customer service (or lack there of) is unacceptable. That being said, if we were not so far along in the mortgage process I would say ?goodbye? to MT and move a long to another bank. The loan processor and loan officer are nasty, unresponsive, and NOT reliable. If you need to get a mortgage I highly recommend another bank because of all the stress this one has caused.

My husband and I should have known from the first meeting that this was going to get stressful, very stressful. A week after our first meeting with a mortgage counselor, she informed us we didn't have a locked in rate when we first met and now had to pay a higher rate. After that stipulations kept changing, down payment, appraisal, had to be done twice because their appraiser did a drive buy appraisal wrong the first time and then the mortgage dept just took their dear old time...even the mortgage counselor couldn't believe how they drug their feet. The Real estate agent threatened to withdraw as it was taking months for no good reason...and you know the amount of money we were asking for? $24,000, and it took months, we had good credit and all paperwork in order thanks to my husband doing his own footwork, as I said the bank kept changing the stipulations. The final is we now have paid the mortgage off, and no surprise had to wait over a week for a pay off figure! and during all the dealings with their customer service center, it is anything but customer friendly. This has soured me on this bank and the big banks. The branch people try but have no control over many situations that need attention. Their small attempt at a personal touch does not make up for the rest of the ugly and impersonal nature of the institution.
