Those of you who were cheated of money, slandered, or anything else should really contact the Better Business Bureau and file complaints: http://www.bbb.org/us/
We went through some of the same stuff. The only way to stop these types of companies and/or get your money back is to file a complaint. Right now the company shows a BBB credit rating of A (out of A - F). You have a chance to get your money back and $400. or $500. is a lot of money, especially today!

Don't be conned into using Quicken. They are by far the easiest company to use because they are web based and will have sales guys call you before you know it. If you want to get a quick and easy refinance, and don't care about points and hidden fees, then Quicken is for you. Their sales guys use high pressure tactics to make you think you have the best offer and that the rates are going to go up now if you don't put down a rate lock deposit of $500. They say the deposit is refundable, if you close with them. If not, you are screwed. They won't offer you any advice. They won't tell you that refinancing may not be for you, these guys want to make their commission and don't care if the deal falls through later because Quicken says you need to pay three additional points to be able to close.

My advice is to call local lenders. The internet is full of companies that will hook you in with a cheap rate then will jack up the points, which is where they make all their money. After I got locked into my rate, which I thought was a decent rate, I learned from a local lender that their rate wasn't even that great. When I tried to pull the plug all these guys from vice-president's office will try and call you and make you happy. Essentially they will offer to knock a 1/4 point off to make you happy but still say points are required. When I told the vice-president the offer I had gotten from the local lender, he said "I've been working here for 18 years and haven't heard of such an offer". I'm closing with the local lender and am elated at the honest customer service I have received from them, and of course the decent deal they have offered. Never again will I deal with Quicken.

I have had several home loans and this has been by far the worst experience ever! My first phone call was with Donna Miller who reviewed all of our information, including our credit reports. She praised our excellent credit scores and was extremely pushy in stating that we must do this right away as the interest rates were about to go up (which they did not). We put up $500.00 to lock in our interest rate. From there it was one thing after another. LIE, LIE, LIE. First our credit report (which previously she had praised) and then the fact that we had not owned our house for at least a year and then that it did not appraise for what it had 6 months previously because the market was supposedly so much worse. Everything she told us was eventually retracted. I could never trust this company. Needless to say it was a loss of $500 and a whole lot of time for us. Choose any company but this one. The only thing she promised us that she followed through on was accepting our $500.

We started shopping for mortgages around the 20th of August. I contacted QuickenLoans, and the sales representative was great through the pricing process. We were told that we had excellent credit, with scores north of 750. Ultimately, though, we decided to go with a local credit union because they could better Quickenloans rate by 1/8 of a point while maintaining the same closing costs. After the decision was made, we sent the sales representative that we'd been working with a note thanking her and telling her that she'd provided great service but it came down to a financial decision and that we were better off going with the local lender.

A few days later, we received a letter saying that our loan application was declined due to insufficient credit (although the three scores attached to the letter were all above 750). I was slightly irritated, but we had our other loan and weren't overly bothered by the letter. A few days later, we found out from the local credit union that they needed to confirm that we had not initiated credit with any of the companies that had run credit checks while we were shopping for rates. In the process of collecting those confirmations, someone from the local credit union contacted the sales representative at Quickenloans, and was told that Quickenloans did not initiate a loan with us because we had insufficient credit. Luckily the representatives at the local bank took this with a grain of salt, relied on information from our credit reports, and continued with the loan process.

I thought I had a loan rate and amount locked in several weeks ago. The rate, which was for a refinance, seemed competitive. But in the several weeks since we've gotten repetitive phone calls looking for additional information or documents. At one point they wanted copies of our drivers licenses faxed to them. So we did. They call back a week later and said the copies were too dark, they couldn't read them. "Could you please make enlarged, lighter copies and fax them again"? My wife did so immediately, but it took me a couple days to get it done. Two days later I got a call saying they got mine but not my wife's. Maybe they have the fax machine set up so its output drops directly into a trash can. Anyway, they want us to send it again.
Regarding my wife, who works for a state agency, they now are asking for a pin number to be able to access her pay records. The employer has already verified her employment, how long she has been employed, and her pay rate. So I'm pushing back. Over a span of 32 years we have held five different mortgages, paid off multiple cars, and have an excellent credit card history. I'm a tenured university professor with 14 years in my current job. My wife has also been steadily employed as a professional for many years. This business of needing a pin number to get into my wife's pay records is spooky. Next they will be claiming I've just won some huge estate in Nigeria, but could I please send all my personal information so they can verify I'm the right person. I wish I had seen this website before I started doing business with them. Even setting aside the question of invading our privacy, you have to wonder why they keep creating all these petty little delays. Are they just stalling while they wait for the Chinese government to make them a loan against their own bad credit rating?

My Loan with Quicken Closed 28 August 2009. The reason for my e-mail is to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the service I received from Beth Fishman. From the very 1st phone call and every phone call and e-mail along the way Beth provide Exemplary service. It is not often that I or most customers have the pleasure of working with someone of Beth Fishman caliber. She did everything she said she would do, when she said she would do it and by refinancing with Quicken Loan she reduced my house payments $603. Thank You!

I had my home loan with Wells Fargo. I had taken an 80/20 loan in order to avoid mortgage insurance. I wanted to finance with VA but Wells convinced me the 80/20 was a better deal. I did not realize at the time the 20% was adjustable. After several months my payment kept going up so I called the bank and locked the interest unfortunately at 7.85%. I have been paying on my home without fail and never late for 5 years. A couple of months back I noticed the equity in my account was zeroed out. I called the bank and they said they depreciated the value of my house so I had no equity. Without warning, without doing a real appraisal Wells Fargo just reduced the value of my home.

That led me to check out some online appraisal sites which somehow lead me to the Quicken Loan site.

I received a call from Beth Fishman. She was polite and very knowledgeable. However, I was skeptical of on-line mortgage companies. And the offer Beth was telling me seemed too good to be true; especially since Wells Fargo told me straight up that I would not be able to refinance. Beth told me I would need to pay $400.00 to get the process started. I was really skeptical. I asked her if the house did not appraise high enough would I get the $400.00 dollars back. Beth was honest and up front and explained that the $400.00 applied to the appraisal. So I knew full well I might be paying for an appraisal without being able to proceed further. I really respected and appreciated her honesty. Beth literally convinced me to proceed; without being pushy or over aggressive. She talked with me.

Once the House appraised Beth assigned me to Ramon Guevara my Client Care specialist. Ramon was fantastic but I still called Beth with the majority of my questions.

Honestly I was nervous throughout the entire closing. I would call Beth or send e-mails asking all kinds of questions. Beth always answered everyone. She responded back immediately even nights and weekends. Once Wells Fargo realized I was going to refinance with another Broker all of a sudden I was getting calls stating they would beat Quicken rate of 5.5 and give me a rate of 5.25%. They sent me paperwork in the mail and assigned me a representative to work with. I called the representative to let her know I did not want to do a new appraisal and ask some questions. I actually left two messages and spoke with someone else on the 3rd call. The Wells Fargo Rep called me back 28 August. Almost three weeks after I had contacted her. Three Weeks!!! I never waited even three hours for Beth or Ramon to get back in touch with me.

I know this e-mail is long (and I hope you are still reading it.) I guess to sum up?
If Beth Fishman and Ramon Guevara are representative of all of your employees I will always be a Quicken Customer and recommend your company to everyone I know.

Please pass on my sincere thanks and appreciation to both Beth and Ramon. I wish them both many, many years of continued success with Quicken and I hope I get to work with them again in the future.
