My fiance and I placed an offer on a house owned by Wells Fargo in June 2009. Everything went fairly smoothly until we scheduled our closing date for 9/15/2009.

My fiance and I assuming that since we were closing on 9/15 only needed our current residence (an apartment) through the end of September.

Needless to say, it came to the closing date and we did not get a response from Wells Fargo. So, we aimed to close the following day, and still - nothing from Wells Fargo. This continued until today 10/1/09, when we pulled the plug.

Throughout this time we called everyone from the selling agent, our agent, the title agency, etc. and raised hell (the seller and our attorney were doing the same) hoping that we could put enough pressure on Wells Fargo to actually give us a response or the paper work so we could close.

My fiance called Wells Fargo's Mortgage customer service, and the person she spoke with informed her that she didn't know what she was talking about. That Wells Fargo isn't a 'mortgage lender' they are a 'mortgage company' they aren't like a bank that lends money (I'm really not kidding). Even though they technically are all three. She literally cried after the call because the person just talked down to her and tried to make her feel stupid.

This is the closing I'm talking about, this is after we got through all the approvals and inspections.

So now that we're out of our apartment, we're living with family members until we can line up another place to live. We are nearly on the streets despite having impeccable credit and a good income - all because Wells Fargo is absolutely despicable.

Do not under any circumstances waste any of your time, money, or potentially your entire life with this company. They have no interest in satisfying customers nor generating revenue for their company.

I feel confident that there is no conceivable way that they could have screwed up more, and with less dignity and respect.

Wells Fartgo purchased the mortgage on my home a
few years ago. It took five months for them to get the paper work right for automatic payments from my checking account. A couple of times I made two payments for the same month because they would call and tell me the autopay didn't pay. I mailed them a check for the amount due and a day or two later the autopay would post. I'd call again and ask them to return the check. By the time I talked to a real person the check would clear as well.
Now they will not endorse an insurance check for wind damage to the roof. I would never intentionally use this mortgage company. Wells Fartgo SUCKS.

WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH. THEY DON'T RETURN PHONE CALLS, EMAILS OR EVEN WHEN YOU DO GET A HOLD OF THEM THEY GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND. WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE EASY TO REFI FROM 15 TO 30 YEAR WITH THEM SINCE OUR EXISTING LOAN IS WITH THEM, AFTER RECEIVING AN APPROVAL LETTER LAST WEEK FOR 6000 IN FEES WHICH THEY CANNOT EXPLAIN AND ADDITIONAL ASSETS INCLUDED IN THE LOAN, WE'RE THROUGH WITH THEM. TRIED TO GET A HOLD OF THEM TO FIX THIS AND SAME RUN AROUND STORY.

I closed on my home in October of 2008. The loan agents weren't very responsive and I only got the closing amount on the actual day of the closing. It was a nuisance, but at least it was completed.

The real problems began when I applied for the 3-Step Refinancing program in January. I provided all information in a timely manner and called periodically for a status update. Each time I was told that everything was on schedule for a mid-March closing.

Imagine my surprise when I call them a week before the scheduled closing and am informed that my application has been denied. They told me that the loan amount exceeded the 417,000 limit. This makes no sense for 2 reasons:
1. My original loan was for 417,000 which I have been paying since October of last year. How is my payoff amount higher than this?
2. It's hard to believe that no one at Wells Fargo saw this as a potential problem until a week before the scheduled closing. I understand that applications can be rejected for numerous reasons, but this is something that have been prevented. Instead I have wasted 2 months and lost a favorable rate.

I am currently looking for other lenders to refinance. There is no way I will give WF anymore of my business.

They are incompetent.

I would rate them even lower if they had a negtive stars system first of all !Can you imagine paying WF every month on time plus adding some to the principle?Than I paid off my mortgage 11 years early in todays economy !I was so happy to be living in a debt free home and then it began with WF.After 3 phone call talking to the servicing rep in the customer service dept each time "I'll put it in the mail you should get it in 10 days" I still had not recieved a copy of conformation of LOAN PAYOFF,but I did rcvd a letter stating "yes, a satisfaction was recorded in your county courthouse 2 months ago" 5 MONTHS after I paid the home off.STILL NO LOAN PAY OFF LETTER FRM WF.So I gave it one more shot and talked to the supervisor, explain everything to him

I have been trying to close my first home mortgage for 4 months now! We received a commitment letter, they made us put NON-REFUNDABLE cash down, and locked us in at a very high interest rate. That process was easy. Our closing was scheduled to be November 15, and our rate expired December 15. Because their underwriter quit and our file sat idle for a month and a half, a week ago we had to pay an extra $100 to extend our rate for another month... all because wells fargo messed up!! I have an excellent credit score and a steady, reliable job, but don't think that will get you far with this company. I worked with the Binghamton office and our lender is completely incompetent and does not communicate. They insisted we needed a septic dye test, which we had done at $300, and then it was refused by the underwriter because what we actually needed was a septic inspection... all of which they didn't tell us until we got 12 inches of snow in one weekend! I had to pay another $400 for the additional test. Our lease is up December 31, someone else is scheduled to move into our apartment, and we will also now be homeless because of Wells Fargo. Please please please avoid at all costs!!!!!!!!
