We bought our home with Wells fargo over a year ago and it was the worst decision we made. We should have known when they didnt confirm our closing date and closing cost amount until 9pm the night before. The closing cost estimate they provided us was much lower than what we ended up paying (almost $2000 lower). And on top of all this, two days before closing they said they wouldnt give us our mortgage unless we got flood insurance- so we had to scramble for that. I guess we are suckers for not backing out right then and there...

They also ignore all our calls, messages and emails. After we had been in the home one year, they told us they were paying our second flood insurance bill through escrow then never did. We were charged nearly $300 for a lapse in policy. When we got a new policy they made us believe it was sufficient for several months then hit us with another letter saying it wasnt enough and we needed more insurance. We have been told by multiple agencies we are in Zone X- and this does not require flood insurance (yet we purchased anyways to appease Wells Fargo). Wells Fargo continues to tell us we are in Zone A and need to spend over $1200 on insurance or they will just add it to our mortgage! They take so long to contact you or review your files you end up getting charged late fees. They are rude on the phone and are not helpful at all. While they are forcing us to have flood insurance, we are the only unit in our CONDO COMPLEX that has it...no other lender requires their home owners in the area to purchase. We have even had our property manager speak directly with wells fargo and they dont want to hear it. Save yourself some time, money and headache and use another lender.

This experience was at the Coon Rapids real estate branch. I worked with this branch for months providing requested documentation, etc. Then, at the last minute (as in a day before closing) they want further information so they can approve the loan. None of this had been communicated in the previous three months that they have my infomation. Fortunately, I had made other arrangements, as I was less than impressed with the level of accuracy and service when I made the initial mortgage request.

That was not the bad part. The bad part is that this agency tried to drop an appraisal charge on me, since I didn't use their service. But they didn't even say a word about it. The charge just showed up on my account three months later.

I do NOT recommend using Edina Realty Mortgage services. They are unprofessional and are poor communicators.
If Wells-Fargo Only Understood An Escrow

We purchased our home with a mortgage from another company. Unfortunately, they sold it to Wells-Fargo. Then the problems began.

Wells-Fargo has threatened to cancel my flood insurance policy because they think I have too much insurance. We live in New Orleans. Shouldn't they be thrilled that we want to pay for flood insurance?

Another issue...They wait until the very last minute to pay insurance and taxes out of my escrow account, which really sucks when they screw up because there's no time to fix it. They recently wrote the check for my flood insurance (which is issued through the National Flood Insurance Program - tricky, I know) to State Farm. Shouldn't they know that State Farm is not going to write a flood insurance policy in New Orleans? Only the federal government would be that foolish. So, now I will have to reapply for flood insurance and have a 30 day waiting period for flood insurance on my house in New Orleans during hurricane season. Thanks, Wells-Fargo!

I would never recommend Wells-Fargo. However, if you're unfortunate enough to have them buy your mortgage, you have to be on top of them to make sure that they don't mess up your insurance. Good Luck!

My fiance and I placed an offer on a house owned by Wells Fargo in June 2009. Everything went fairly smoothly until we scheduled our closing date for 9/15/2009.

My fiance and I assuming that since we were closing on 9/15 only needed our current residence (an apartment) through the end of September.

Needless to say, it came to the closing date and we did not get a response from Wells Fargo. So, we aimed to close the following day, and still - nothing from Wells Fargo. This continued until today 10/1/09, when we pulled the plug.

Throughout this time we called everyone from the selling agent, our agent, the title agency, etc. and raised hell (the seller and our attorney were doing the same) hoping that we could put enough pressure on Wells Fargo to actually give us a response or the paper work so we could close.

My fiance called Wells Fargo's Mortgage customer service, and the person she spoke with informed her that she didn't know what she was talking about. That Wells Fargo isn't a 'mortgage lender' they are a 'mortgage company' they aren't like a bank that lends money (I'm really not kidding). Even though they technically are all three. She literally cried after the call because the person just talked down to her and tried to make her feel stupid.

This is the closing I'm talking about, this is after we got through all the approvals and inspections.

So now that we're out of our apartment, we're living with family members until we can line up another place to live. We are nearly on the streets despite having impeccable credit and a good income - all because Wells Fargo is absolutely despicable.

Do not under any circumstances waste any of your time, money, or potentially your entire life with this company. They have no interest in satisfying customers nor generating revenue for their company.

I feel confident that there is no conceivable way that they could have screwed up more, and with less dignity and respect.

Wells Fartgo purchased the mortgage on my home a
few years ago. It took five months for them to get the paper work right for automatic payments from my checking account. A couple of times I made two payments for the same month because they would call and tell me the autopay didn't pay. I mailed them a check for the amount due and a day or two later the autopay would post. I'd call again and ask them to return the check. By the time I talked to a real person the check would clear as well.
Now they will not endorse an insurance check for wind damage to the roof. I would never intentionally use this mortgage company. Wells Fartgo SUCKS.

WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH. THEY DON'T RETURN PHONE CALLS, EMAILS OR EVEN WHEN YOU DO GET A HOLD OF THEM THEY GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND. WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE EASY TO REFI FROM 15 TO 30 YEAR WITH THEM SINCE OUR EXISTING LOAN IS WITH THEM, AFTER RECEIVING AN APPROVAL LETTER LAST WEEK FOR 6000 IN FEES WHICH THEY CANNOT EXPLAIN AND ADDITIONAL ASSETS INCLUDED IN THE LOAN, WE'RE THROUGH WITH THEM. TRIED TO GET A HOLD OF THEM TO FIX THIS AND SAME RUN AROUND STORY.
